WHAT IS A KILOWATT HOUR?
A kilowatt hour (kWh) is simply a measure of how much energy you use.
It DOESN’T MEAN the number of kilowatts you’re using per hour. It is simply a unit of measurement that equals the amount of energy you would use if you kept a 1,000 watt appliance running for an hour.
So for example, A 100 watt light bulb would take 10 hours to use 1 kWh of energy.
It’s hard to be precise, because the similar appliances can have very different wattages, but here are some rough examples of 1 kWh:
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN kW AND kWH?
kW stands for kilowatt, which us simply 1,000 watts, a measure of POWER.
A kilowatt hour (kWh) is a measure of ENERGY.
So for example, a 1000 watt TV needs 1000 watts (1 kW) of POWER to work, and uses 1 kWH of ENERGY in an hour!
